It was worth the wait. Three cheers to the Director of Bachna Ae Haseeno and to the Yashraj Films banner. After Race, it’s a landmark film in the Hindi/Bollywood film industry and a feather in the cap for Indian commercial film makers. I need not go into every detail of the film as by now, you would be well aware of it, they seem to have spared no expense to promote it. First time, in a Hindi movie, the role of the Indian woman is portrayed. We are no more in the 50’s-80’s where the woman, was represented as a mere doormat – without any identity or sense of purpose. This film talks about today’s woman, one who has evolved through time and has reached her pinnacle of glory, glamour and power. She is confident, smart, intelligent and knows who she is. No more can she get away with anything and be the sorry figure. She is a rebel and a true woman. This patriarchal society was destroying the image of the true woman, and she has come back and taken her rightful place in society. She is not only a strong individual but a soft feminine entity also, which is nicely portrayed through Bipasha’s dialogue and at the very end by Deepika’s dialogue. She can love, she can forgive, but she is ready to talk about her own rights and value her existence. Moreso this film shows the new man. One who can no longer be the MCP, he knows that he has to apologize, if he is at fault and learn to respect the other sex. This new man, we see in every aspect of society, otherwise the woman wouldn’thave b risen to such heights in the society, bit it in polititcs, drama, movies, fashion, corporate world, anywhere. And no, the new society, which is reflected in this movie- admires and respects this growth of man- woman relationship. Bravo – well done- the script writer. A terrific script, brilliant dialogue, accompanied by fantastic, effortless acting by Ranbir. Deepika too, is graceful and sophisticated. Truly the blueblood’s are here, from the family of super achievers. Her grace is unparalleled. The body movement, dialogue delivery. She is absolutely stunning. Its not a massy movie, it’s a classy, chic movie, for those who’re accustomed to watching European and International cinema.
